Admin tools are usually where visual ambition goes to die. This one was an experiment in keeping a dashboard genuinely pleasant to look at without paying for it in load time.

Three.js supplies a single accent element rather than a full 3D scene, so the cost is bounded and the rest of the interface stays plain, fast markup.

Speed Insights went in on the first deploy, not after launch, which meant every subsequent decision had a number attached to it.

Measuring from commit one changes what you are willing to add. A 3D flourish is affordable exactly once — and only if you can see what it costs.
